MLO 4: Reflective Narrative
To complete this topic, I took JAPN 206: The Japanese Mind which is a course that introduces the Japanese culture. After this course, I have a general knowledge of Japanese culture. During the course I had the opportunity to share time with some international students that came from Japan. The most challenging part was that most of the students were Japanese majors, and they had more knowledge about any topic than me; however, I made very good Japanese friends that helped me to understand their philosophies, beliefs, values, attitudes, and ideas about many matters that we discussed during class. We discussed their sense of beauty, their traditions, part of their stories and many art works from the Japanese culture. I was really happy to attend this class because I learned different styles and points of view about diverse topics. I feel very comfortable about my knowledge of another culture besides Mexican and American. I have the inquietude to learn more about Japanese and other oriental cultures because they look at life and its essential characteristics from a very different perspective than ever imagined.
