Welcome!
Language is the main tool of humankind. Human beings wouldn’t survive without the essential skill to communicate with others. The history of humanity has been built around this primary ability. Once you gain in the language field, language transforms itself into an artistic expression with its own beauty inside words. |
Personal Statement
Once I finished with my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics requirements from California State University Monterey Bay, I decided to get a second major in Spanish. My Spanish instructors encouraged me to change my Spanish minor into a major because they notice that I was so passionate about literature and the Spanish language.
I am so excited that, after many years of hard work, I will be the first generation in my family to get a bachelor degree in two subjects that are my passions. Even though some people assume that numbers and letters don’t go together, I have discovered that both of them offer a huge universe for those explorers in the search of knowledge and answers to many universal questions.
The most important part in this journey through language and literature is that I have reunited with my cultural roots. I am from a Mexican family that has been part of the diaspora in the search of a better future. In this odyssey I have left many things behind in order to fulfill that dream of better life. My Spanish studies were an exodus to those cultural roots that are still alive inside me. Every word transports me to the place where I belong and reminds me that I have my own identity in spite of the place where I live.
Access to education is very difficult in my country. In spite of good grades, if you don’t have someone that supports you to go into the system is almost impossible to be part of a university. This country gave me the opportunity to reach the dream of being an educated person. Having reached some of my own dreams, I decided that my mission in life is to give others what I get thanks to many people of good will that supported me during this crusade. I want to be part of the educational system and support every single student in their journey to succeed. As educators we have the opportunity to change lives, to encourage people never give up, to promote education as one of the most important tools to achieve dreams, and to remind them that they are not alone in this battle for a better future.
I am planning to continue in this journey to get knowledge. The learning process never ends. But during that time we have also the responsibility to help the new generations in their odysseys. Moreover, this desire to educate our people is perhaps my real passion. Life is short, and there exists a huge desire to survive death; our legacy for the new generations is the treasure of knowledge. Once we touch a life we will be remembered always, and then we will never die.
